Step 1: Bake and cool cookies before decorating. Make sure cookies are fully cooled. If they are warm, the icing will run off of them. Make royal icing. Learn how to mix different consistencies of royal icing here>>

Prepare the following icing colors:

Piping Consistency:
Red


Flood Consistency:
Red

Step 2: Using piping consistency red icing, outline the entire lips shape.

Step 3: With piping consistency red icing, create a divide between the bottom and top lip as shown.

Step 4: With your piping consistency red icing, make a squiggle in the top part of the lip and then the bottom part. This will prevent your flood consistency icing from collapsing, or cratering. Wait 3-5 minutes for the piping consistency icing to begin hardening just a bit.

Step 5: Use your red flood consistency to fill in the lower part of the lips. Use a toothpick or scribe tool to move the icing around. This ensures full coverage of the shape, and also gets rid of any air bubbles that might be in the frosting.

Step 6: Use your red flood consistency to fill in the upper part of the lips. Use a toothpick or scribe tool to move the icing around. This ensures full coverage of the shape, and also gets rid of any air bubbles that might be in the frosting.
