Blog Made in America Creates Jobs

If you buy a cookie cutter, chances are very high that it was either made by us, Vermont-based Ann Clark, or by a factory in China. Look at the product label for country of origin. Ann Clark products are clearly marked Made in USA.

Buying made in the USA products makes good sense for many reasons. One reason is jobs.

The Chinese government subsidizes certain industries such as steel production in the form of an undervalued currency or reduced costs for energy, land, loans, and water, according to an opinion by Peter Navarro, which was titled "The Price of 'Made in China'" and printed Aug. 4, 2013 in The New York Times.

Navarro, an economics professor at the University of California-Irvine, goes on to say, "Because of China's subsidies—most of which are arguably illegal under international trade agreements—its producers are able to dump steel products into America at or below the actual cost of production."

"Of course, every job China gains by dumping steel into American markets is an American job lost," Navarro wrote.

Ann Clark Cookie Cutters are made from tinplated steel produced by U.S. Steel at a plant in Ohio. The material we use is tested each year by an independent lab to verify that it is safe with regard to dangerous substances such as lead and cadmium.
